 ESCAIDE 2014

The 2014 ESCAIDE conference will take place 5-7 November. The conference will be hosted at the Stockholm Waterfront Congress Centre, in the heart of the city.

 ABOUT ESCAIDE

OBJECTIVES

The conference aims at: (a) strengthening and expanding the human network of all involved in applied infectious disease epidemiology (b) sharing scientific knowledge and experience in this field in Europe and internationally, and (c) providing a dedicated platform for EPIET, FETP (field epidemiology training programme) and EUPHEM (European Public Health Microbiology Training Programme) fellows to present their work.

Abstracts are welcomed in all areas related to applied infectious disease public health.

AUDIENCE

The target audience for the conference includes epidemiologists, microbiologists, clinicians, veterinarians and public and environmental health experts with a professional and scientific interest in infectious disease epidemiology, microbiology and associated disciplines, and their application in the control of infectious disease.

The conference aims at bringing together several groups of people involved in these areas including representatives from EU/EEA National Public Health Institutes, members of Surveillance and disease-specific networks (and EPIET/FETP/EUPHEM fellows and alumni. The audience also includes governmental, NGO and academic researchers from across Europe and the globe with an interest in infectious disease prevention and control.

CME credits

For the past 5 years, The European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ESCAIDE) has been accredited by the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME) to provide CME activity for participants. The EACCME is an institution of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).

In 2013, ESCAIDE was designated for a maximum of  18 hours of European external CME credits. Each medical specialist should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

Through an agreement between the European Union of Medical Specialists and the American Medical Association, physicians may convert EACCME credits to an equivalent number of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Information on the process to convert EACCME credit to AMA credit can be found at www.ama-assn.org/go/internationalcme.

HISTORY

In the first years of the conference, hosting alternated between Stockholm and city of an EU Member State or EEA. The inaugural ESCAIDE conference was held in Stockholm in 2007, and the conference has also been hosted in the Swedish capital in 2009,  2011 and 2013. Berlin hosted the first conference to be held outside Sweden in 2008, followed by Lisbon in 2010, and Edinburgh in 2012. From 2013, the conference is hosted in Stockholm, the home of ECDC.
