Invitation and background information
ECDC invites scientists with relevant expertise to participate in the Centre’s scientific panels and working groups and assist the Centre in provision of scientific advice.
Scientists with relevant expertise are invited to apply. ECDC welcomes applications from experts in all fields of its mandate, such as:
- communicable diseases
- public health areas related to communicable diseases
- clinical and public health microbiology
- epidemiology (especially of communicable disease, epidemiological analysis methods including training, etc)
- statistical analysis of communicable disease data
- mathematical modelling of communicable diseases
- public health crisis, including bioterrorism
- vaccine preventable diseases including influenza vaccines
- antibiotics and antiviral drugs
- design and development of medical terminologies and related web services concerned with communicable diseases field
- standardisation/modelling/evaluation of health data
- social sciences related to health
- public health programme monitoring and evaluation
- climate change and its impact on communicable disease threats
- burden of communicable diseases
- health communication
- other related fields
All experts who submit a complete application are included in the ECDC Candidate Expert Directory. This requires giving ECDC only limited information at this stage and does not take more than five minutes. Only when the Centre selects a candidate for possible participation in a specific panel or for other scientific involvement, supplemental information will be requested (such as a CV, a declaration of interest, etc.).
