How to better report molecular typing data in epidemiological studies

A scientific opinion paper has been published in The Lancet Infectious Diseases to improve the quality and consistency of reporting research in molecular epidemiology for infectious diseases. A working group of experts with various backgrounds (epidemiologists, statisticians, bioinformaticians, virologists and microbiologists) have drafted this statement – STROME-ID – to be used by scientists, clinicians, public health specialists but also journal editors and grant reviewers.  Improving the quality and transparency of scientific reporting would be beneficial for evidence reviews and health policy decision making.
