Training programmes

European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET)
The European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) is a 2-year competency based fellowship programme (supervised learning-by-doing) and provides training and practical experience in intervention epidemiology. Fellows are trained in national or regional centres for surveillance and control of communicable diseases in the European Union (EU) and Norway. The programme is aimed at European health professionals with previous experience in public health wanting to work in field epidemiology.

The objective of the EPIET Programme is to provide state-of-the-art training in field epidemiology, enabling its fellows to apply epidemiological methods to a wide range of public health problems in Europe.

 

European Programme for Public Health Microbiology Training (EUPHEM)
The European Programme for Public Health Microbiology Training (EUPHEM) provides training and practical experience in public health microbiology at laboratories with public health reference functions in the European Union (EU). The programme is aimed at EU microbiologists with a medical, veterinary or environmental microbiology background with previous experience in public pealth and a keen interest in applying microbiological principles and methods to the prevention and control of diseases in the human population.

The primary objective of the EUPHEM programme is to provide state-of-the-art training in public health microbiology enabling its fellows to apply microbiological and epidemiological methods to a wide range of public health problems in Europe. The main emphasis of the programme is on learning-by-doing activities.   

The programme is hosted at the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control in Stockholm, Sweden.
