​The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is an agency of the European Union whose mission is to identify, assess and communicate current and emerging threats to human health posed by infectious diseases. ECDC is the lead behind the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) and the EU Public Health Microbiology training programme (EUPHEM), and the main sponsor of ESCAIDE. ​The EPIET Alumni Network (EAN) was created to help develop and maintain a network of European public health epidemiologists that have participated in the European Programme for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) or other European Field Epidemiology Training Programmes (FETP).
​The ESCAIDE conference provides a dedicated platform for EPIET, FETP and EUPHEM fellows to present their work. The conference is organised organised annualy by ECDC, in Stockholm, Sweden, and aims at strengthening and expanding the human network of all involved in applied infectious disease epidemiology and sharing scientific knowledge and experience in Europe and internationally.
Training Programs in Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET) is a professional network of 55 field epidemiology training programs (FETPs) around the world. TEPHINET aims to strengthen international public health capacity by training field epidemiologists through an applied apprenticeship program.
