The call for abstracts for the European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ESCAIDE) is now open and will close on Friday 13 July 2012.
ESCAIDE, organised by ECDC, brings together professionals from across the globe to present and discuss important developments in infectious disease prevention and control. This year the conference will take place on 24-26 October in Edinburgh, UK.
Abstracts are welcomed in all areas related to infectious disease intervention, including epidemiology, public health microbiology, surveillance, and the application of tools and methods to support infectious disease outbreaks or interventions. Further details on abstract submissions can be found on the ESCAIDE's website.
Abstracts that highlight the interaction of microbiology and epidemiology in supporting public health intervention and disease control are particularly welcomed. It is planned to award a prize at ESCAIDE 2012 to abstracts that best describe the value of this interdisciplinary engagement to reach a common goal.
The 2012 programme includes planned keynote sessions on the following topics:
- Zoonoses: the detection and management of emerging infections at the human/animal interface;
- Vulnerability in 21st century public health;
- Public health microbiology: microbiology and epidemiology as partners in infectious disease detection and control;
- Vaccination: effectiveness, safety and implementation strategies for current and future vaccines.
