Guidance

On specific request from Member States or the European Commission, ECDC convenes scientific panels to provide guidance for policymakers in the area of public health.

These panels analyse the available evidence on a particular question in order to help European Union (EU) Member States to make policy choices. They highlight the issues that need to be considered and provide a list of policy options for each of these. View Guidances.

Meeting reports

Comprehensive reports of meetings organised by ECDC, bringing together experts from across the EU and world wide for consultation on topical issues and to share best practices. View Meeting reports.

Mission reports

In the event of a disease outbreak an investigation team may be sent from ECDC to assist the affected Member States. Reports from the ECDC outbreak assistance teams will be published here, together with reports about support missions on either general or specific issues concerning communicable diseases. Special reports

Various documents falling outside the regular reports series can be found here. From overviews on good practices to the ‘Framework Action Plan to Fight Tuberculosis in the EU’ ECDC’s Special reports cover a wide range of subjects of interest to health professionals and policymakers. Surveillance reports

ECDC’s flagship publication "The ECDC Annual Epidemiological Report on Communicable Diseases in the European Union" presents the annual data on all 49 notifiable diseases (together with healthcare associated infections and antimicrobial resistant infections) in the EU and EEA/EFTA countries and provides an overview of the current status of infectious diseases in Europe.

Further regular publications are derived from ECDC’s surveillance activities and analyse changing trends for specific diseases or groups of diseases. In addition, reports from the networks EuroTB and EuroHIV are jointly produced with WHO, covering the whole WHO European Region. View Surveillance reports.

Technical document

Largely aimed at public health professionals working in the area of communicable diseases, ECDC’s technical documents provide guidance on operational issues such as tool kits for the collection of surveillance data, and training in the area of epidemiology of infectious diseases. Technical reports

ECDC technical reports present the outcome of ECDC’s scientific panels, consultation groups and working groups. Authored or co-ordinated by ECDC’s scientists, the reports provide evidence-based answers to scientific, public health and operational questions, including risk assessments. View Technical reports.
