ECDC has deployed an expert from the EU Health Task Force to the cruise ship affected by the Andes hantavirus outbreak and published a threat assessment brief.

According to WHO, 246 suspected cases and 80 suspected deaths have been reported in at least three health zones in Ituri Province in DRC. An additional two confirmed cases with a history of travel from DRC have also been reported in Uganda.

This year, ECDC is publishing a guidance proposal to establish and implement infection prevention and control programmes in healthcare facilities and introducing hyFive, a digital hand hygiene monitoring tool for healthcare settings.
