Dengue Fever: Short epidemiological update, Brazil, Bahia state – 20 August 2009
In 2009, the tourist state of Bahia, Brazil, has been severely affected by dengue fever. As of 8th August 2009, the local health authorities reported more than 100,000 cases of dengue fever, representing an increase of 199% compared to the same period in 2008.

From January 1st to June 26th 2009, a total of 480,909 cases of dengue have been reported in the Americas, including 7,547 cases of severe dengue (dengue hemorrhagic fever, dengue shock syndrome, and complicated dengue) and 186 deaths.

Locally acquired dengue—Key West, Florida, 2009-2010
On September 1, 2009, a New York physician notified the Monroe County (Florida) Health Department (MCHD) and the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) of a suspected dengue case in a New York state resident whose only recent travel was to Key West, Florida.
Epidemiological update: Outbreak of dengue in Madeira, Portugal, 13 February 2013
As of 3 February 2013, the Portuguese Ministry of Health has reported 2 164 cases of dengue infection from the Autonomous Region of Madeira since 3 October 2012. No deaths or cases of severe dengue have been reported. All reported cases refer to the resident population of the island.
Epidemiological update: Possible local transmission of dengue virus in Greece, 6 September 2012
On 3 August 2012, a probable case of dengue infection was reported in a resident in west Greece (Agrinio). The 84 year old patient, who had severe underlying conditions and septicaemia, died on 30 August 2012.
