Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in migrants, multi-country cluster – ECDC risk assessment
ECDC has published a third update to assess the risk of transmission within the EU of a multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR TB) strain initially detected by Switzerland in seven asylum seekers from the Horn of Africa. Recommendations are given to help improve the understanding and the public health impact of this cluster for the EU.

As in other institutional settings, migrant reception/detention centres face specific challenges in preventing and controlling communicable disease transmission. In order to support EU/EEA Member States in improving preparedness and syndromic surveillance at migrant hosting sites, ECDC is launching two handbooks and related assessment tools.
