13 May 2019 - The WHO European Region was declared polio-free in 2002. Neither wild-type nor vaccine-type viruses were notified in the WHO European Region in 2017, but the risk of importation and subsequent transmission remains high in certain countries.

The European Union summary report on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food in 2017
26 Feb 2019 - The data on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria in 2017, submitted by 28 EU Member States (MSs), were jointly analysed by EFSA and ECDC. Resistance in zoonotic Salmonella and Campylobacter from humans, animals and food, and resistance in indicator Escherichia coli as well as meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus in animals and food were addressed, and temporal trends assessed.
