During the International Conference on (re-)emerging infectious diseases in Addis Ababa, ECDC Director Andrea Ammon presented ECDC's response activities, preparedness work and training activities.

2019 will be a year of transformation for Europe. Despite these changes, ECDC will further demonstrate its efficiency and usefulness by providing added value in the area of European public health. The Single Programming Document constitutes an essential element for the guidance of ECDC’s work and its resource allocation.

The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER) have agreed to collaborate in the training of public health professionals in competencies for prevention and control of communicable diseases.

The following guidelines apply to the traineeship programme of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). This scheme primarily targets recent university graduates who are at the beginning of a new professional career.

ECDC processes the personal data collected in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2018/1725. The purpose of the processing is to select trainees for the official traineeships scheme of ECDC.

This manual provides a detailed overview of the ECDC Fellowship Programme’s intended learning outcomes, training activities (modules, field and international assignments), supervision and coordination of the training course. The intended audiences of the manual are the applicants and fellows of Cohort 2019, training site supervisors, and the Scientific Coordinators.
