External quality assessment of laboratory performance – European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network (EARS-Net), 2017
This report provides an analysis of the external quality assessment (EQA) performance of laboratories participating in the European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network (EARS-Net) in 2017.
Antimicrobial resistance surveillance in Europe 2015
This report presents antimicrobial resistance data for seven microorganisms of major public health importance. For 2015, data were reported by 29 countries. The report also presents trend analyses for the period 2012–2015.
Strategy for the external quality assessment of public health microbiology laboratories
ECDC’s Microbiology Coordination Section developed a multi-disease ECDC’s strategy for cost-efficient design and management of ECDC EQAs.

This document presents the recommended priority options and implementation processes for the medium-term integration of molecular typing into EU-level surveillance and epidemic preparedness.
Gonococcal antimicrobial susceptibility surveillance in Europe, 2014
The surveillance of Neisseria gonorrhoeae antimicrobial susceptibility in the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) has been co-ordinated by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) since 2009.
Rapid risk assessment: Multi-country outbreak of hepatitis A virus genotype IA infections affecting EU countries in 2018
After the EPIS FWD notification of a cluster of hepatitis A cases infected with two distinct strains in several EU/EEA countries, this risk assessment presents the early findings of this multi-country hepatitis A outbreak and sets out initial options for response.
Rapid outbreak assessment: Multi-country outbreak of Salmonella Agona infections possibly linked to ready-to-eat food
A multi-country outbreak of Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Agona (S. Agona) is under investigation in the European Union (EU), with cases retrospectively identified back to 2014.
Monitoring the use of whole-genome sequencing in infectious disease surveillance in Europe 2015–2017
The results of the third pan-EU/EEA survey presented in this report showed that by mid-2017 the vast majority of national public health reference laboratories in EU/EEA countries had access to whole genome sequencing based typing of diverse microbial pathogens for investigations of infection and drug resistance transmission.
