Multi-country outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes sequence type 8 infections linked to consumption of salmon products
A multi-country outbreak of 12 listeriosis cases caused by Listeria monocytogenes sequence type (ST) 8 has been identified through whole genome sequencing (WGS) analysis in three EU/EEA countries: Denmark (6 cases), Germany (5) and France (1).

This week, 12 outbreaks among equids were reported by Hungary (15), Italy (9), Greece (1) and Germany (1). This is the first time a West Nile virus infection was detected in an equid in Germany.

Rapid risk assessment: Acute encephalitis associated with infection with Borna disease virus 1, Germany
Borna disease virus 1 (BoDV-1) has been associated with human disease in four cases in Germany resulting in the death of three people. As three of the cases belong to a cluster of solid organ recipients from a single donor, donor-derived BoDV-1 transmission is possible. There is no evidence that the donor had any clinical manifestation of the disease.
