Rapid risk assessment: Regional outbreak of New Delhi metallo-betalactamase-producing carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae, Italy, 2018–2019
A large outbreak of New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase (NDM)-producing carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) has been reported from the Tuscany region in Italy. Between November 2018 and May 2019, seven Tuscan hospitals notified a total of 350 cases.
Laboratory manual for carbapenem and colistin resistance detection and characterisation for the survey of carbapenem- and/or colistin-resistant Enterobacteriaceae
This protocol is based partly on the laboratory manual developed for the European survey of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (EuSCAPE)
ECDC country visit to Norway to discuss antimicrobial resistance issues
An ECDC country visit team conducted an assessment mission during the period 12–16 March 2018 to discuss antimicrobial resistance (AMR) issues in Norway. The overall objective of the mission was to provide an observation-based assessment of the situation in Norway regarding prevention and control of AMR through prudent use of antibiotics and infection control.
Point prevalence survey of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use in European acute care hospitals - ECDC PPS validation protocol version 3.1.2.
This protocol version is an accompanying document to the ECDC protocol for the point prevalence survey of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use in European acute care hospitals version 5.3.
Laboratory procedures for diagnosis and typing of human Clostridium difficile infection
The aim of this document is to support Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) surveillance in Europe with appropriate microbiological standardised procedures, and can be used by microbiologists, infectious diseases specialists and infection prevention control specialists.
ECDC study protocol for genomic-based surveillance of carbapenem-resistant and/or colistin-resistant Enterobacteriaceae at the EU level
This ECDC study protocol describes the technical requirements for implementing future EU-level genomic-based surveillance of carbapenem-resistant and/or colistin-resistant Enterobacteriaceae.

This issue of the ECDC Communicable Disease Threats Report (CDTR) covers the period 8-14 July 2018 and includes updates on carbapenemase-producing (OXA-48) Klebsiella pneumoniae, dengue, Ebola virus disease, poliomyelitis, MERS-CoV, mass gathering monitoring (FIFA Men's Football World Cup), measles, poliovirus type 2, rubella, Vibrio growth in the Baltic Sea, and West Nile virus.
Rapid risk assessment: Carbapenemase-producing (OXA-48) Klebsiella pneumoniae ST392 in travellers previously hospitalised in Gran Canaria, Spain
This rapid risk assessment evaluates the risk of transmission and further spread of OXA-48-producing Klebsiella pneumonia e ST392 from travellers having sought medical care in Gran Canaria to healthcare facilities in their country of origin in the EU/EEA.
Healthcare-associated infections: Clostridium difficile infections - Annual Epidemiological Report for 2016
In 2016, 20 EU/EEA countries reported CDI data to ECDC for 593 surveillance periods from 556 hospitals.
Rapid risk assessment: Emergence of resistance to ceftazidime-avibactam in carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae
This risk assessment will discuss CAZ-AVI resistance in brief, review the recent literature reporting resistance of CRE to CAZ-AVI, and assess the risk for the EU/EEA countries.
