Syphilis and congenital syphilis in Europe - A review of epidemiological trends (2007–2018) and options for response
Since 2010, syphilis notification rates in the EU/EAA have been on the increase, but in recent years this trend seems to accelerate predominantly among men having sex with men (MSM). Similar trends have been observed in high income c ountries outside the EU/EAA . While the overall trend remained relatively stable, outbreaks or clusters of syphilis cases have also been reported among heterosexual populations in the EU/EEA. In several high income countries (e.g. US A , increases in congenital syphilis occurred in connection with increases in syphilis notifications among women.
Eighth external quality assessment scheme for typing of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli
This report presents the results of the eighth round of the external quality assessment (EQA-8) scheme for typing of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) organised for laboratories providing data to the Food- and Waterborne Diseases and Zoonoses Network (FWD-Net) managed by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).
Continuum of HIV care - Monitoring implementation of the Dublin Declaration - 2018 progress report
This report focuses on data findings on the continuum of HIV care submitted by countries in Europe and Central Asia for the 2018 round of reporting on implementation of the Dublin Declaration on Partnership to Fight HIV & AIDS in Europe and Central Asia.
HIV Estimates Accuracy Tool manual
The HIV Estimates Accuracy Tool is an R-based application that uses statistical methods to allow for adjusted estimates from HIV surveillance data taking into account the issues of missing data and reporting delay. While it does not replace the knowledge of data analysis with adjustments, it is intended for routine application in surveillance as no complex programming skills are needed.
Point prevalence survey of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use in European acute care hospitals - ECDC PPS validation protocol version 3.1.2.
This protocol version is an accompanying document to the ECDC protocol for the point prevalence survey of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial use in European acute care hospitals version 5.3.
Eighth external quality assessment scheme for Salmonella typing
This report presents the results of the eighth round of the external quality assessment (EQA-8) scheme for typing of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica organised for public health national reference laboratories (PH NRLs) in ECDC’s Food- and Waterborne Diseases and Zoonoses network (FWD-Net).
Generic protocol on enhanced surveillance for invasive pneumococcal disease at the EU/EEA level
The current generic protocol proposes a uniform approach for active invasive pneumococcal disease (IPD) surveillance in children and enhanced surveillance in other age groups.
Social determinants and risk factors in tuberculosis surveillance in the EU/EEA
The objective of this report is to provide countries with advice on what social determinant and risk factor variables to collect and what definitions to use, and to propose information to be collected at the national and European level.
Mathematical modelling of programmatic screening strategies for latent tuberculosis infection in countries with low tuberculosis incidence
Elimination of tuberculosis (TB) requires the management of latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) in key populations. Thus, people with LTBI need to be diagnosed and treated with appropriate regimens. It is unknown how different screening and treatment strategies of key populations affect TB transmission and progress toward elimination.
