Epidemiological update: outbreak of hepatitis A virus infection in four Nordic countries
As of 6 August 2013, the Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish public health institutes reported 106 cases associated with the hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection outbreak affecting their countries since 1 October 2012. Of these, 64 were confirmed and 42 were probable.

Since 1 January 2013 there have been 15 laboratory-confirmed cases of hepatitis A (HAV) infection reported in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland. All cases had travelled to the provinces of Trento and Bolzano in northern Italy during the exposure period.

Between 1 October 2012 and 8 April 2013, 16 confirmed cases of hepatitis A virus (HAV) infections with subgenotype IB and identical RNA sequence were reported in four Nordic countries.
EMCDDA and ECDC join forces to address the challenge of hepatitis
Hepatitis and other drug-related infectious diseases will be the focus of ‘Hepatitis week’, taking place at the EU drugs agency (EMCDDA) in Lisbon from 12–16 June 2017.
