ECDC country visit to Latvia to discuss antimicrobial resistance issues
As part of an ECDC country visit to Latvia on 26–30 September 2011, an ECDC team conducted visits and meetings to discuss AMR issues in Latvia and provide an assessment. Compared with many other EU countries, the present AMR situation of Latvia is favourable. There is an infection control legislation that is under implementation and the legislation is a good basis for improving infection control practices.

Mission report: Assessment of Latvia’s reference microbiology laboratory system
The Latvian Centre for Disease Prevention and Control – on behalf of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Latvia – requested the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control to evaluate the current national reference laboratory (NRL) system.
HIV and hepatitis B and C in Latvia
At the request of the Ministry of Health in Riga, a team of experts from ECDC and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction paid a technical visit to Latvia on 2–4 September 2014.
