This practical course will cover outbreak investigation, pandemic planning, recent developments in respiratory pathogen biology and therapy, and will focus around two practical scenarios in which participants will gain experience in managing an acute epidemic. Research during an epidemic and ethical aspects will also be covered.

Public Health Capacity and Communication
With broad expertise, the work of the unit aims at strengthening European capacities, knowledge and cooperation in communicable diseases prevention and control, in a way that is complementary to the other activities of the Centre.
Communication on immunisation
Traditional interventions are no longer seen as enough to effectively prevent and control vaccine-preventable diseases. Research shows that properly designed behaviour-based health communication activities can have a significant positive impact on health-related attitudes, beliefs and behaviours.
