Control of multidrug-resistant micro-organisms in health care settings
The main objective of the course is to strengthen capacity in EU Member States for control of healthcare-associated infections due to multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in acute health care settings and to promote the broadest possible implementation of appropriate methods. ECDC-ASEF workshop: Strengthening the link between emergency risk communication and preparedness planning
For the first time ECDC and the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) jointly organise a capacity-building workshop to discuss the challenges of incorporating emergency risk communication in all aspects of public health emergency preparedness planning. The workshop ‘How can we be better prepared for the next global health threat - Planning and implementing emergency risk communication’ takes place during the 7th and 8th September in Stockholm and convenes over 60 public health experts from Asian and EU/EEA countries.

ECDC highlights its training resources in the area of infection control and hospital hygiene, in support of the WHO “SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands” campaign
Each year on 5 May, the “SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands” campaign takes place as part of a major global effort led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to improve hand hygiene in healthcare settings. The campaign was launched in 2009 as an extension of the WHO First Global Patient Safety Challenge: “Clean Care is Safer Care”. The focus of this year’s campaign is on improving hand hygiene practices in all surgical services, from surgical wards to operating theatres, to outpatient surgical services.
