Results of the Burden of Communicable Diseases in Europe (BCoDE) project provided key messages for planning and prioritization of communicable diseases in Europe, as well as offer a comprehensive overview of the quality and availability of surveillance data, and uncertainties surrounding them.

The Burden of Communicable Diseases in Europe (BCoDE) project involves a large European consortium and has the objective of estimating the burden of 32 selected infectious diseases in the EU/EEA Member States using Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs).

The list of participants included representatives of EU national public health agencies, the European Commission, WHO Regional Office for Europe, and European infectious disease experts.
