ECDC roadmap for integration of molecular typing and genomic typing into European-level surveillance and epidemic preparedness – Version 2.1, 2016-19
This roadmap Version 2.1, 2016–19 presents the recommended priority list of pathogens/diseases and technical implementation options for the medium-term integration of molecular/genomic typing into EU-level surveillance and epidemic preparedness. It provides a strategic framework to guide the consolidation of ECDC activities in relation to molecular typing of human pathogens. The document synthesises evidence and the opinion of experts in Member States and at ECDC.
Eighth external quality assessment scheme for Salmonella typing
15 Oct 2018 - This report presents the results of the eighth round of the external quality assessment (EQA-8) scheme for typing of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica organised for public health national reference laboratories (PH NRLs) in ECDC’s Food- and Waterborne Diseases and Zoonoses network (FWD-Net).
Monitoring the use of whole-genome sequencing in infectious disease surveillance in Europe 2015–2017
18 Sep 2018 - The results of the third pan-EU/EEA survey presented in this report showed that by mid-2017 the vast majority of national public health reference laboratories in EU/EEA countries had access to whole genome sequencing based typing of diverse microbial pathogens for investigations of infection and drug resistance transmission.
Synergies in community and institutional public health emergency preparedness for tick-borne diseases in the Netherlands
23 Aug 2018 - The present report is concerned with the emerging infection of tick-borne encephalitis in the Netherlands — the two first endemic cases occurring in July 2016 — in the larger context of a widespread and increasing incidence of lyme borreliosis.
