Tuberculosis surveillance in Europe 2008

The joint ECDC/WHO TB surveillance report presents and analyses data collected for 2008 in the European Union, European Economic Area and the additional 24 countries of the WHO European Region. Although the countries of the EU and EEA have continued to experience a steady decrease in overall TB notification rates, that decline is slowing down. Further, there has been no significant improvement in the treatment success rate of TB. The report makes a number of recommendations to improve the monitoring and reporting of TB in order to support effective TB control efforts
