Africa CDC Director Dr Nkengasong visits ECDC
On 19 February 2018, Dr Andrea Ammon, ECDC Director, hosted a visit of Dr John Nkengasong, Africa CDC Director.
On this occasion, Dr Ammon said: “ECDC welcomes Dr Nkengasong, Director of the Africa CDC. In our interconnected world, enhancing international cooperation against communicable diseases is essential to better support our Member States in handling cross-border threats and strengthen health security in the EU/EEA. We therefore look forward to exchanging experience with each other and exploring opportunities for collaboration between our respective Agencies”.
The Africa CDC was officially established by the heads of states and governments of the African Union and the leadership of the African Union Commission on 31 January 2017.
