Staff categories
Protecting Europe from infectious diseases needs teamwork from people with diverse types and levels of experience, such as scientific, administrative and IT.
The ECDC employs staff in two staff categories: Contact Agents (CA) and temporary Agents (TA).
Contract Agents
Contact Agent contracts usually last for 5 years, with the possibility of extension and indefinite contracts. Contract Agents can also be recruited for projects of a fixed duration.
Contract Agents cover a wide range of profiles and positions, such as administrative staff, project coordinators, and communication specialists.
Contract Agents in category FG IV are also entry-level contracts when it comes to scientific positions.
Examples of Contract Agent positions at ECDC:

| Contract Agent FG IV | Scientific Officers (entry-level scientific positions). Programme Managers, Graphic Designers, Editors, Legal Officers etc. |
Temporary Agents
Temporary Agent contracts usually last for 5 years, with the possibility of extension and indefinite contracts.
Temporary Agents cover administrative, managerial, and scientific positions.
