Map
Period: 01 Oct 2016 - 31 Oct 2016

The map shows the current known distribution of Aedes albopictus in Europe at a ‘regional’ administrative level (NUTS3), as of April 2017. The VectorNet maps are published regularly on the website to provide the ECDC stakeholders and the general public with the most up-to-date information on vector distribution.

Map of Aedes albopictus distribution in Europe, as of April 2017

The exotic mosquitoes distribution maps are based only on confirmed data (published and unpublished) provided by experts from the respective countries as part of the VectorNet project. Separate maps for the distribution of each of the following mosquito species are currently available: Aedes aegypti, Aedes albopictus, Aedes japonicus, Aedes atropalpus and Aedes koreicus.

ECDC and EFSA, through the VectorNet network, continues to improve the data collection for the maps. VectorNet is looking for vector-borne disease experts who are interested in sharing data on the distribution of mosquito, tick, sand fly and culicoides vectors. Experts can contact VectorNet at VectorNet@ecdc.europa.eu to join the network. They can also register and upload data to the common database through the VectorNet tool.
