ECDC and EMCDDA have initiated the process of the updating the joint 2011 Guidance for prevention and control of infectious diseases among people who inject drugs (PWID) considering areas indicated by a 2018 stakeholder survey and an evidence-based approach. Planned date for the release is early 2021. Through this contract ECDC is seeking consultancy support for a systematic review to collect the evidence base for interventions that can improve linkage to care and adherence to treatment of infections of PWID (e.g. HIV, hepatitis B and C and TB) and, a survey to collect models of practice on linkage to care and adherence to treatment, community based testing and health promotion. The contractor will contribute to an expert panel to review/advise on updated guidance recommendations (tentatively planned for October 2020) and produce several technical documents, including a systematic review report.
