Seasonal influenza vaccination in EU/EEA Member States
Within the Vaccine European New Integrated Collaboration Effort (VENICE), several activites were conducted in the area of seasonal influenza vaccination including surveys on vaccine strategies and collection of vaccination coverage rates data that covered a period starting from the 2007/2008 inluenza season. The last update of this specific survey covered the 2016/2017 influenza season. Examples of the report are accessible on the VENICE platfrom website (http://venice.cineca.org/objectives.html). These surveys aimed to document the authorisation and availablility of influenza vaccines and antivirals, vaccine and antiviral strategies and recommendations, vaccine and antiviral prices as well as vaccination coverage rates in the EU/EEA countries.
This procedure aims to implement a new survey that will update the results of the previous studies performed within VENICE. For each EA/EEA country, ECDC wish to establish a country profile in which will be highlighted vaccine recommendations and strategies as well as the level of vaccination coverage rates for the influenza vaccines in the general population, at risk and specific target groups including the health care workers.
