Updating & validating core competencies on applied infectious disease epidemiology
The aim of this assignment is to update and develop the framework of core competencies on applied infectious disease epidemiology in the area of communicable disease surveillance and response in the European Union, to organise the validation procedure with experts in this field and to prepare the finalised document of the core competencies to be published. The assignment will be based on previous work done by ECDC on this area.
This assignment is part of the ECDC action “Core competencies on applied infectious disease epidemiology”. This assignment involves the collection of data to develop and update the list of core competencies. Data collection will also require the involvement of key stakeholders at regional and sub-regional level across Europe using a variety of participatory and consensus-building approaches is necessary as the project brings together different European partners from the policy, practice and academic sectors. In addition, an international advisory group of experts with experience in the development of competencies at a global level are supporting the action.
In this context, the contractor will collect data to inform what competencies need to be integrated in the new competency set and define the inclusion/exclusion parameters for the selection of competency dimensions. The contractor will produce several provisional versions of the competency set following a stepwise expert validation process and when finalized produce the confirmed set. The assignment stages are structured using different activities that define the tasks and the main deliverables that define the outcomes for each provisional version of the competency set. Specific intermediate deliverables are also provided to narrow down global assignments involved in the production of the main deliverables.
