The case, confirmed by the Greek Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (KEELPNO), was detected in an elderly resident in the East Attica region of the country. The case has no recent travel history.

While this is the first case inside the EU, cases have been reported in neighbouring countries. Two cases that occurred in July have been reported by Israel this week. In previous weeks, Russia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina have reported 25 probable and confirmed cases.
