E-learning Africa 2024 advances digital workforce development

The 17th International Conference and Exhibition on Digital Education, Training & Skills Development, known as ‘E-learning Africa 2024’, concluded today, highlighting the significant role of digital education in transforming workforce development across Africa.

‘E-learning Africa 2024’ which took place in Kigali, Rwanda, from 29−31 May 2024, underscored the potential of e-learning and digitalisation for enhancing education and training in order to build a resilient and skilled workforce.

A dedicated session showcased Africa CDC's learning management system (LMS), highlighting its positive impact on digital education for healthcare professionals. The presentation emphasised the importance of digital tools in overcoming geographical and socioeconomic barriers, and promoting inclusivity and equity in public health education.

ECDC and Africa CDC`s participation in the conference mainly focused on knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the exploration of innovative solutions. Engaging with a diverse array of stakeholders facilitated the formation of collaborative partnerships to address complex public health challenges.  

The conference targeted professionals involved in workforce development, digital learning experts, and those working with learning management systems.  

The ECDC and Africa CDC delegations included seven colleagues from Africa CDC and its Regional Collaboration Centres and three colleagues from ECDC, all working on the digital transformation of public health education.
