Since the previous update (October 2023), there were changes in 12 regions.

The map shows the current known distribution of Aedes albopictus in Europe at ‘regional’ administrative level, as of May 2024. Since the previous update (October 2023), the mosquito has been recorded as newly established in regions in France (6) and Germany (1), and newly introduced into regions in Spain (2), the Netherlands (1), Portugal (1), and Slovenia (1).

Aedes albopictus is known to be established in the following EU/EEA countries: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, and Spain. It is known to have been introduced in the EU/EEA countries Belgium, Cyprus, Czechia, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Slovakia and Sweden.
