West Nile fever in Europe in 2018 - human cases compared to the previous season; updated 10 August

Between 3 and 9 August 2018, the EU Member States reported 120 human cases of West Nile fever. Italy reported 72 cases, Greece 16 cases, Romania 16 cases, Hungary 13 cases and France 3 cases. The EU neighbouring countries reported 34 cases; Serbia reported 32 cases and Kosovo* two cases. This week Serbia reported five deaths, Greece reported 3, Italy reported one, Kosovo reported one and Romania reported one.
