Since January 2014, several new cases of S. Stanley have been reported by four Member States, all potentially linked to a 2011–2012 S. Stanley outbreak.
This rapid outbreak assessment is done jointly with the European Food Safety Authority and reports on the unusual increase in the number of Salmonella Mikawasima infections in humans in several EU countries since September 2013.
ECDC and EFSA have produced a joint risk assessment on a multi-country outbreak of Salmonella Stanley. This is an update of a risk assessment published in July and takes into account the increase in cases and countries affected.
Following an increase in the number of reported human infections with Salmonella entrica serovar Stanley in some EU countries, the European Commission requested a risk assessment from ECDC.
