This report provides an overview of the latest tuberculosis (TB) epidemiological situation and is published jointly by the WHO Regional Office for Europe and ECDC.
The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) held a press briefing on 24 March to mark World Tuberculosis Day 2023 and provide an update on the latest surveillance and monitoring data (2021) and current TB situation in Europe.
For 2020, 2 377 malaria cases were reported in the EU/EEA, 2 369 (> 99%) of which were confirmed. Among 2 088 cases with known importation status, 99.8% were travel-related. Five confirmed cases were reported as acquired in the EU (three by France and two by Greece).
