This report summarises the results and data collected through the 2018 ECDC capacity and training needs assessment survey. The assessments, which are carried out every three years, focus on the European Union (EU) Member States and the European Economic Area (EEA) countries. The 2018 survey consisted of two questionnaires which asked countries to report on the capacity of the workforce, perceived training needs and the relevance of ECDC training in the field of communicable disease prevention and control.
The results presented in this report are based on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) data from invasive isolates reported to the European Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Network (EARS-Net) by 29 European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA) countries in 2021 (data referring to 2020), and on trend analyses of data reported by the continuously participating countries for the period 2016 to 2020.
In 2020, using data from countries able to provide at least two consecutive stages of the continuum, the overall performance of the European and Central Asian region against the global 90-90-90 targets is 82% of all PLHIV with HIV diagnosed, 67% of those diagnosed with HIV on treatment and 90% of those on treatment virally suppressed. More progress is needed to meet the substantive target of 73% of all PLHIV being virally suppressed, with performance for the overall region at 50% (based on the countries that submitted data for all four stages of the continuum).
This Reporting Protocol contains guidelines on how to prepare data for submission to TESSy, deadlines for data submission, subject-specific information, and links to further information.
From 1 January–24 October 2023, 335 laboratory-confirmed Salmonella Enteritidis ST11 cases belonging to three distinct microbiological clusters have been reported in 14 EU/EEA countries, the United Kingdom and the United States, affecting all age groups.
Marburg virus disease (MVD), formerly known as Marburg haemorrhagic fever, is a severe disease in humans caused by Marburg marburgvirus (MARV). Although MVD is uncommon, MARV has the potential to cause epidemics with significant case fatality rates.
