This survey (CoMix) was conducted to enhance our understanding of contact mixing during the transition period beyond the acute phase of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This update of ECDC pandemic risk assessment for Europe is based on data and analyses available in early November 2009. It draws on the experience in European countries, North America and the Southern Hemisphere’s temperate countries, which have already passed through a winter with the new virus.
Hepatitis A cases in 2021 were at their lowest levels since EU-level hepatitis A surveillance began in 2007, while five other food and waterborne diseases are rising towards pre-pandemic levels. The information is revealed in the Annual Epidemiological Report 2021, of which six chapters are published today by ECDC.
This report summarises the results from two epidemiological studies conducted by the Vaccine Adverse Event Surveillance and Communication (VAESCO) Consortium undertaken in eight European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) countries in order to investigate a possible association between an unexpected increase in narcolepsy cases following the use of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 vaccines. Narcolepsy is an underdiagnosed disease of widely unknown etiology.
This meeting focussed on cross-cutting issues related to pandemic and all-hazards preparedness in light of the implementation of the IHR and the recently adopted EU decision 1082/2013/EU.
