Dr. Andrea Ammon meets with Portuguese health officials
On 20 April 2023, Dr. Andrea Ammon met with Portuguese health authorities and regional representatives from national public health institutions.
The overall topic of the visit programme was ‘Current challenges and innovation for Public Health in the Future’. The objectives of the visit were to discuss the main challenges of the post-acute pandemic phase, the recent EU Regulations affecting the ECDC extended mandate and serious cross-border health threats, future innovations for public health as well as intensified collaboration.
The programme was designed to inform Andrea about the Portuguese experiences on the topics of the sessions, but also to share/exchange expertise and lessons learned by ECDC in the respective areas.
The meeting was moderated by Rui Portugal, ECDC Management Board member and Deputy Director General of the Portuguese Direção-Geral da Saúde.
