The exchange was attended by five Ukrainian public health experts from different regional centres for disease prevention and control and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health. The meeting focused on the Danish DANMAP programme for surveillance of antimicrobial consumption and resistance in bacteria from food, animals and humans.

The Ukrainian experts learned about the historical background for antimicrobial consumption surveillance in Denmark, the current model in use and the main milestones achieved during the programme to date. They also visited different reference laboratories for antimicrobial resistance.

The meeting was organised in connection with the annual DANMAP seminar, where the Ukrainian experts had the opportunity to follow presentations on surveillance results for broad expert audiences, clinicians, policymakers, and representatives from the medicines industry.
