Geographical distribution of cases of MERS-CoV in Saudi Arabia, 12 February 2024
Since the beginning of 2023, and as of 16 February 2024, six MERS-CoV cases, including two fatalities, have been reported with the date of onset in 2023 by Saudi Arabia (5) and the United Arab Emirates (1).
As of 16 February 2024, no MERS-CoV cases have been reported by WHO or national health authorities with date of onset in 2024.
Since April 2012, and as of 16 February 2024, a total of 2 621 cases of MERS-CoV, including 949 deaths, have been reported by health authorities worldwide.

MERS-CoV worldwide overview
Since the disease was first identified in Saudi Arabia in April 2012, approximately over 2 600 MERS-CoV cases have been detected in over 27 countries.
