ECDC presented the latest data mosquito-borne diseases in the EU/EEA, with a focus on dengue and West Nile infection, which are the two diseases that where most increases are seen. During the briefing, information regarding new areas where mosquito species transmitting these diseases are present, as well as prevention and control measures, was presented.

The latest EU/EEA figures show a continuing upward trend in the number of cases of dengue imported from dengue-endemic regions, as well as an increasing number of local outbreaks of West Nile virus infections and dengue within the EU/EEA.
