A team of experts from ECDC and four EU countries (France, Italy, Portugal and Spain) visited Malta from 3 to 6 July 2016 and met with staff from the Ministry of Health and key stakeholders in Malta to discuss preparedness planning for mosquito-borne diseases.
On 20-21 April 2016 ECDC is organising a meeting on ‘Zika virus infection and review of surveillance and control measures for strengthening regional cooperation regarding Zika virus and its possible spread in the EU’.
On 23 February 2016, ECDC Acting Director, Dr Andrea Ammon, presents the Centre’s key priorities and main activities in 2015 during an Exchange of Views before the Committee of the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) of the European Parliament.
The annual meeting of VectorNet, the European Network for collecting data on vectors, gathered 70 experts in medical and veterinarian entomology and public and animal health from Europe and countries around the Mediterranean Basin.
This was the first regional meeting on West Nile fever real time surveillance and good practices on vector-borne diseases. The overall objective was to support the exchange of experience between EU and non-EU neighbouring countries on the surveillance of West Nile fever and the lessons learnt since 2011.
