Since the beginning of the 2023 transmission season and as of 8 November 2023, EU/EEA countries have reported 692 human cases of WNV infection and 137 outbreaks among equids and 240 outbreaks among birds.
This document is an update of the joint guidance that was published in 2011 by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA).
Since the beginning of the 2023 transmission season and as of 1 November 2023, EU/EEA countries have reported 680 human cases of WNV infection. Since the beginning of the 2023 transmission season, 134 outbreaks among equids and 234 outbreaks among birds have been reported by EU/EEA countries.
