Dr. Andrea Ammon at EPSCO Council on health
On 14 March 2023, Dr. Andrea Ammon participated in the EPSCO Health Council in Brussels. The Swedish Minister of Health Acko Ankarberg Johansson chaired the meeting.
Dr. Ammon presented ECDC’s views on two agenda items:
- the EU Global Health strategy
- future vaccination strategies.
Ministers held an exchange of views on the EU global health strategy which was presented by the European Commission on 30 November 2022.
The Council also addressed:
- the implementation of the medical device regulations
- the negotiations for an international agreement on pandemic prevention, preparedness and response
- shortages of medicines in the EU market.
The EPSCO Council brings together ministers responsible for employment, social affairs, health and consumer policy from all EU member states. Relevant European Commissioners also participate in meetings.
