Dr. Andrea Ammon at the Health Security Committee
On 20 and 21 June 2023, Andrea Ammon attended the Plenary Health Security Committee (HSC). The meeting took place in Luxembourg and was chaired by Sandra Gallina, Director General of DG SANTE.
On 20 June, the meeting focused on avian influenza, particularly on strengthening prevention and preparedness and creating the synergies needed between the public health and the animal health sectors to properly respond to the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) threat. Andrea gave an update on the current epidemiological situation and on ECDC’s public health risk assessment.
On 21 June, the focus was on the implementation of the Serious Cross-Border Health Threats Regulation and on strategic organisational aspects of the Health Security Committee.
