This ECDC workshop was co-hosted between ECDC and The National Health Institute Doutor Ricardo Jorge in Lisbon, Portugal.

The purpose was to:

1. Present the findings from a systematic review of the best available evidence and scientific knowledge on the burden of infectious diseases affecting migrant populations in the EU/EEA;

2. Present feedback on the survey to Member States;

3. Allow Member States to share examples of best practice on surveillance, prevention and control targeted toward migrant populations in the various infectious disease areas.

The workshop is included in the project “Migrant Health: Key infectious diseases affecting migrant populations in the EU/EEA”, launched in 2012 by ECDC. The scope and objective of this project is to produce a comprehensive overview of the key infectious diseases affecting migrant populations in the EU/EEA.
