This meeting was part of a project to systematically review and synthesize the evidence on preventing infectious diseases amongst newly arriving migrants within the existing health systems.

Using the newly developed GRADE “evidence to decision” framework, ECDC searched for evidence and updated high quality systematic reviews on effectiveness, acceptability, feasibility, equity and resource use of migrant screening. This review informed the development of guidance document for key migrant health infectious diseases. A scientific panel had been set up to oversee the process. The specific objectives of this meeting of the scientific panel were to:

  • Discuss the draft summaries of evidence reviews.
  • Share local guidance and experiences on the prevention of key infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants.
  • Review the background and methodology for the Evidence to Decision criteria (EtD) and GRADE EtD FACE survey.
