Workshop on “Public Health benefits of screening for infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants in to the EU/EEA”

Under the auspices of the Greek Presidency of the EU Council, the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (HCDCP) in collaboration with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, hosted a technical expert workshop on “Public Health benefits of screening for infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants to the EU/EEA” in Athens.

​The objectives of the workshop were to:

  • Share good practices on screening for infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants
  • Provide participants with an update of ongoing EU and ECDC projects in the area of infectious diseases and migrant health
  • Discuss the cost-effectiveness of screening for infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants
  • Discuss the need for European guidance on screening for infectious diseases among newly arrived migrants in the EU/EEA

This workshop aimed to bring together experts in the area of public health from the EU member states, international organisations and the USA.
